Adopt a Pet
Clear the Shelters Aug. 18
City of Wylie Animal Services is proud to join animal shelters across the country in hosting Clear the Shelters Day, planned this year for Saturday, Aug. 18, between 9:30 am and 5 pm.
During Clear the Shelters Day, adoption fees are waived, and all animals will have been spayed or neutered, have had all vaccines, have a microchip, have been dewormed, and have been treated with flea and tick eradication and prevention medication. City registration will be issued to all Wylie residents who adopt.
Adoptive families always receive great free samples and coupons for pet care services; check back to see what goodies will accompany the pets this year.
Since 2014, more than 23,500 pets have been adopted from North Texas shelters and over 150,000 animals have found loving homes across the country during the event. In 2017, Wylie found forever homes for 47 animals; the DFW grand total was 7,542 and nationwide, 44,397. Let's keep the momentum going; for the last four years, Wylie has been able to clear out 100 percent of its animals, and staff is hoping to do so in 2018!
Visitors must be at least 18 years old with valid ID to adopt.
