Shelters Cleared
Thanks to everyone who adopted a pet at the July 23 Clear the Shelters event! Wylie found forever homes for 47 animals; the DFW grand total was 7,542 and nationwide, 44,397. New animals come to the shelter all the time, however, so please stop by if you need a new four-legged family member.

Clear the Shelters is July 23, 2016

City of Wylie Animal Services is joining animal shelters across the country to host a Clear the Shelters Day pet adoption event Saturday, July 23, from 10 am to 5 pm. The shelter is waiving adoption fees, and all animals will have been spayed or neutered, have had all vaccines, have a microchip, have been dewormed, and have been treated with flea and tick eradcation and prevention medication.

This year, animals will be sent to new homes with extra goodies, including gift cards for $200 worth of preventive veterinary services, courtesy of VIP Petcare; $100 vet services gift cards, courtesy of East Plano Murphy Pet Hospital; a collar from the local ASPCA; and pet food courtesy of PetSmart.

For the last two years, Wylie has been the first shelter to clear out 100 percent of its animals, and staff is hoping to make it three in a row!

Complimentary drinks and snacks will be provided by Cox Elementary School.

Over 50 North Texas shelters are scheduled to participate in the Clear the Shelters event. Organizers said it's the largest adoption effort ever held in the area, and they hope it will be the largest multi-city, multi-county adoption event in the U.S.

Visitors must be at least 18 years old with valid ID to adopt.

Wylie Animal Services is located at 949A Hensley Ln., Wylie. For more information, call 972-442-5268 or email
